Meet the wonderful Aintree Group team, who work hard behind the scenes to help you sleep well at night!

Aintree Group is all about providing integrated professional services, where a range of experts from different industries and disciplines work collaboratively to get the best possible outcome for you – in all areas of your life.

Our specialist advisory teams operate as individual Accounting, Legal and Wealth business units, but all under the same roof and all under the same brand. This allows us to provide a broad and holistic service offering.

At the centre of this collaborative structure we have our Managing Director Shane McKenna, our business unit Directors, and the Operations Team – made up of Administration, Executive Assistants, Compliance, Marketing & HR.

Shane McKenna

Managing Director

Shane is a Chartered Accountant with 30 years’ experience working as a trusted advisor to business owners and professionals. He and his wife Andrea started Aintree Group in 2005 with a vision to create an accounting and advisory business that could provide genuine long-term support. He specialises in Tax Planning, Business and Management Consulting, Managerial Finance, Strategic Business Planning, and being there to talk clients through all their big life decisions. Shane’s knowledge of tax matters is the best in the business. He has a way of seeing opportunities that others can’t, from simple savings through to sophisticated tax planning strategies. He seeks to educate business owners so they can become financially savvy themselves and empower them to achieve security and success in all areas of their lives. Shane is passionate about sharing his expertise to benefit the wider community. He is an active member of many advisory boards and local committees and speaks on topical issues at seminars and training events regularly. He is family oriented and encourages finding a balance between home and work life.
Andrea McKenna

Chief Executive Officer

She/Her

Andrea is a practical, no-nonsense ideas person who specialises in Marketing Strategy, Business Strategic Planning and Communications, Management Consultancy and Public Relations.

Andrea has a background in Marketing and Communications across various industries. Her wealth of knowledge on business operations and strategy is backed by decades of experience both as a business owner and business advisor.

Andrea is passionate about helping small business owners, community organisations and not-for-profits find solutions to roadblocks and achieve success. She serves on many committees and advisory boards and widely volunteers her time, expertise, and resources.

Andrea has a special interest in the Arts and is a huge advocate for improving industry standards in that space. She loves travelling with her family, but also enjoys coming back home to a good Melbourne coffee.

Julie Pidgeon

Julie Pidgeon

Governance Manager

Julie is a positive, intuitive, results-oriented marketing and communications specialist with a passion for creativity and authentic connection. Her 30+ years’ experience spans national organisations and brands, SMEs, as well as independent consulting across accounting, banking, energy, IT and government sectors. Her wealth of knowledge and experience with business operations and strategy is backed by decades of experience both as a business owner and business advisor.

Julie is passionate about empowering people with the information, tools and support they need to live their best life with ease. She is based in Brisbane and loves to travel, explore different cultures and spend quality time with family and friends.

Chelsea Scarlett

Marketing & Communications Manager

She/Her

Chelsea manages our marketing, events and communication across all business units at Aintree Group; including digital marketing and branding, website and content creation, internal procedures, client communication, team and client events, and community involvement. She ensures our team members, clients and wider network are kept in the loop on important matters.

Chelsea has a degree in Professional Communication and has worked with a variety of business owners from different industries to improve their digital marketing strategies and internal operations.

In her spare time, Chelsea is a dance teacher and performer with Bindaas Bollywood Dance Company. She loves spending time in nature, particularly at the beach.

Laura Piciocco

Laura Piciocco

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Laura joined Aintree Group in 2021. She works part time assisting our marketing team with social media content creation and strategy.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys baking desserts for her family, friends and the office. She also loves watching reality TV and the AFL (Go Carlton!).

Jasmin Marotta

P&C Advisor

Jasmin joined Aintree Group in 2024 as the People & Culture (P&C) Advisor. She brings a wealth of experience in professional services and is instrumental in fostering a positive and productive work environment within our team. 

Her role revolves around championing our most valuable asset: our people. Jasmin is here to ensure that each member of our team feels supported, valued, and empowered to bring their best selves to work every day. Whether it’s facilitating professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of inclusivity and belonging, or simply being a listening ear, her goal is to create a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and appreciated.

Additionally, as a Yoga and Pilates teacher Jasmin advocates for life balance, recognizing that nurturing personal well-being outside of work is essential for fostering a healthy, fulfilled, and productive team.

Paul Martin

Accounting Principal

Paul has over 36 years of taxation and business advisory experience, including running his own practice for 28 years. He’s worked in a broad range of industry sectors specialising in construction, civil engineering, property development, manufacturing, biotechnology and retailing.

Paul predominantly working closely with family businesses specialising in tax planning, business consulting and strategic advice, often acting in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for many of our clients.

He strongly believes in both developing close relationships with clients to gain a better understanding of their goals, both personal and business, and also in keeping close ties to the community – often by taking on the role as treasurer of local sporting clubs and charities. 

Outside of work, Paul enjoys travelling and cooking for his wonderful wife, two daughters and their partners. He loves nothing more than relaxing with a glass of red and a good “whodunnit” novel, preferably with an ocean view!

Earl Eddings

Consultant

Earl works directly with Aintree Group clients as an advisor and consultant.

His wealth of knowledge, extensive experience and leadership qualities are exceptional, and his contributions are invaluable to our clients, as well as to the broader scope of Aintree Group’s goal of being the go-to trusted advisor for all business and finance matters.

This values statement was workshopped and created by our team members in 2022. We believes represents our culture, what we stand for, and the experience of Aintree Group as a whole. You can find out more about our values here.

We’re also big advocates for goal setting and accountability, and so having accurate metrics and measurable KPIs is important to us. Therefore it makes sense that we engaged with The Workability Index to quantify our workplace culture according to their standardised tests.

We were certified with a “High” Workability Index Score in 2019, and it’s important to us that we improve on that score each year.
