The local charities we’re supporting this year…

Sister Works are a grass-roots social enterprise who engage closely with migrant women supporting economic empowerment.

They offer a range of programs, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities that help women to develop their skills, confidence, and connections. They also provide support with finding employment, starting their own businesses, and navigating the Australian system.

Fitted for Work helps women and gender-diverse jobseekers to become work-ready, find meaningful employment, and thrive in their working lives!

They focus specifically on employment because work provides economic security, independence, purpose, and connection. They also provide job-readiness services to provide women with practical skills, knowledge, and connection, so that they can move forward with confidence in their careers.

Women’s Housing Limited is a statewide not for profit organisation that provides low costs housing to women at risk of homelessness.

Women and their children make up an increasingly large percentage of those in need of affordable housing and Women’s Housing believe all women have the right to safe, secure, affordable housing choices.

Find out more about International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The theme for 2025 is #AccelerateAction. This year’s theme emphasises the importance of taking the necessary steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for more progress and urgency in making this change to eliminate the barriers and stereotypes that women still face in 2025.
