Insights from the CEO

Success Is Not An Accident

In business, it’s easy to forget, or sometimes ignore, the reasons you’ve been successful in the first place.

As businesses grow, there are more voices around the table. More opinions. More competing priorities. And sometimes, in trying to keep the wrong people happy, we can lose sight of what actually got us here.

Ego can creep in. The loudest voices can start carrying too much weight. Short-term validation can become more important than long-term vision.

That’s when it’s worth stepping back.

Look at the vision you started with. Look at the decisions that moved the business forward. And, importantly, look at the people who had the forethought, motivation and courage to make those decisions when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed.

Success rarely happens by accident.

It comes from people who saw something before everyone else did. People who were prepared to make difficult calls, challenge conventional thinking, take calculated risks and keep going when the easier option was to stay exactly where they were.

Growth should absolutely bring new thinking, new people and new perspectives.

But growth shouldn’t require you to forget your foundations.

There’s a difference between evolving a business and losing sight of what made it successful.

Every now and then, step back from the noise and ask:

What got us here? Who helped get us here? And are we still honouring the vision, courage and decisions that made this business what it is today?

Never become so focused on where you’re going that you forget who, and what, made the journey possible.
